Becky is a lawyer, retired judge, mediator and arbiter. She practiced law in Western North Carolina from 1982 to 1990 in private practice, as served as an Assistant County Attorney and Assistant District Attorney. She served as a District Court Judge in Buncombe County from 1990 to 2012. Since 2012, she has been a consultant, mediator and arbiter. In 2021, she partnered with Marvin to form Pope & Knight Mediation and she is available to mediate and arbitrate cases pending in the courts and private matters. Becky is a certified both as a Superior Court and Family Financial mediator with the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission. Becky is currently a member of the Dispute Resolution Commission, the body that regulates court mediators in North Carolina.

Marvin is a lawyer, recalled emergency retired judge, mediator, and arbiter. He practiced law in Western North Carolina from 1973 to 2001. He served as a District Court Judge in Buncombe County from 2001 to 2010 and a Superior Court Judge from 2010 to 2021. After his retirement from the bench in 2021, the Governor appointed him as a Recalled Emergency Superior Court Judge. He will be assigned to work as a judge in Superior Court cases on an as-needed basis.
In 2021, he partnered with Becky to form Pope & Knight Mediation and he is available to mediate cases pending in the courts and private matters. Marvin is a certified mediator for Superior Court cases with the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission.
